Jason Boron is a Lecturer in Music Education at Edith Cowan University, where he coordinates undergraduate and postgraduate units in early childhood and primary music education. Jason’s teaching draws upon over 15 years of leading music education programs in higher education, school and community settings. Jason is currently the President of Kodály Australia and is an accredited lecturer of the Australian Kodály Certificate. He currently facilitates the delivery of the Musical Foundations professional development package offered as part of the Music Education Strategy for the Department for Education in South Australia. Jason is also President of the Academic Staff Association of ECU and serves on the University Education Committee. Jason is a past recipient of the Sarolta Kodály Scholarship awarded by the International Kodály Society and in 2020 was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Award for Innovative Teaching. His Master of Arts thesis investigated the first International Kodaly Seminar and he has been part of collaborative research projects attracting over $250,000 in funding. Jason is published in The Australian Educational Researcher. Jason maintains regular work with children as a choral conductor for the West Australian Young Voices (WAYV).
Jason is in regular demand as a consultant and presenter for music education in-service programs. He has coordinated and led innovative music education programs, including the Primary Music Specialisation at Edith Cowan University, the Australian Kodály Certificate Course in Perth (which attracted over 100 participants in 2018), and the Music Every-Day program (for students in pre-kindergarten to year 2) at Presbyterian Ladies’ College.
